The Metro is the most efficient, fastest and cheapest way to move around the City of Madrid. The city has a very extensive metropolitan network, one of the most complete in Europe, and covers almost all points of the capital and many of the nearby cities.
Currently, there are twelve metro lines, three light rail lines and the branch linking the Ópera and Príncipe Pío stations. Of all the lines, Line 8 (Nuevos Ministerios-Airport T4) stands out, linking the capital with the Barajas international airport and with the Madrid Fair (IFEMA).
Metro stations with lifts are marked on the metro map with the wheelchair symbol.
To travel on the Madrid Metro, it is necessary to have a Public Transport Card (TTP) loaded with a valid transport ticket for the trip to be made.
